RENSSELAER COUNTY DEVELOPER APPOINTED
TO CAPITAL DISTRICT REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION

Averill Park, NY (April 30, 2002) - Edward Patanian of Averill Park has been appointed to serve as a commissioner for the Capital District Regional Planning Commission.

Patanian, president of EJP, Inc., a Rensselaer County-based realty/development firm, was appointed to the CDRPC by the Rensselaer County Legislature in march, joining Stan Brownell, John L. Buono, Jayne Regan Harris, and Mike Stammel as 2002 Rensselaer County commissioners.

"The Commission will benefit greatly from Ed's knowledge of planning and development issues," CDRPC Executive Director Chungchin Chen said. "As an accomplished developer in Rensselaer County, his background and experience will be valuable assets for the CDRPC."

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with the Commission, which provides a vast array of vital services for the region," Mr. Patanian said. "I look forward to contributing in every way that I can."

Serving Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties, CDRPC was established as a regional planning board in 1967 by a cooperative agreement among the counties. It performs and supports comprehensive planning work, including surveys, planning services, technical services, and the formulation of plans and policies to promote sound and coordinated development of the Capital Region. CDRPC also functions as an aviation system planner, crime control coordinator, data and information center, Economic Development District, and Foreign-Trade Zone administrator.

Mr. Patanian founded EJP, Inc., which is based in West Sand Lake, in 1985. His home communities include Pond Hollow Estates in Averill Park and Forest Glen in West Sand Lake. EJP is currently moving forward with the planning process for the Bon Acre project, a mixed-use, planned development district in the Town of Sand Lake. The project, which includes commercial, residential, and recreational development over a 92-acre parcel, is slated to begin as early as 2003.

Mr. Patanian is a member of a number of national and Capital Region-based professional groups and associations including the Greater Capital Region Association of Realtors, National Association of Home Builders, Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce, and the New York State Association of Realtors.
